Grenson Shoes are a traditional British shoes manufacturer with an established and prestigious history as a producer and designer of footwear. The company was founded by William Grenson in 1866 in Rushden, Northamptonshire where many of the UK’s shoe manufacturers are now based.

Although William died in 1901, he had established such a strong reputation and foundations for the company that it continued to flourish in his absence. The company was even the first in the UK to register its name as a brand in 1913, further establishing its credentials as a British institution.

Grenson Brogues are perhaps what the company is most famous for, and are equally popular amongst those who like traditional British shoe styles and those who like to infuse contemporary fashion with traditional design. The company produce 3 main ranges of footwear, with each collection made up of several individual styles, these ranges are labelled as the Rose, Rushden and Feathermaster collections.

Grenson Shoes - Truly the Master Shoemaker

If you want a shoe brand that is synonymous to quality, expertise and experience, there is no other name but Grenson. With over 140 years of experience, you can never go wrong with a pair of Grenson shoes. It is hand-made from the finest of shoe materials so it is exceptionally durable. What sets Grenson apart from the many shoe brands and has made it last through many decades is its appreciation and understanding of changing generations. For these and for many more reasons, they are considered as "England's Master Shoemaker."

Grenson Shoes - the History

This premier shoe brand is marked by a colourful history and long tradition. In 1840, Grenson shoes William Green moved to Northamptonshire, considered the home of quality shoemaking. Green started with a cottage-based business. With the perfect Oak bark and charcoal abundant in the area, it is not surprising how Green would later turn these resources into forefronts of high quality footwear production.

William Green died in 1901 but the solid foundation he built on his shoe business prompted it to grow further despite his death. The word "Grenson" came to be with a rebranding that occurred in 1913. This re-branding was a move that occurred when the company later labelled as "Green and Sons" became among the first registered brand names in the UK. Thereafter, Grenson shoes became available for retail through shoe stores and establishment all over the world.

Through 140 years, Grenson survived many depressions and two world wars yet it withstood the tests of time and war without compromising quality and passion. Grenson shoes wouldn't have lasted fourteen decades in the industry had it not been for their excellence and consistency in production. Their years of expertise are marked by resilience and flexibility, as they constantly change their style to keep up with the times and to suit the taste of the public. When it comes to production and manufacturing, Grenson's methods have changed a great deal over the years. As new materials and high-technology production method becomes available, they make sure to adopt it to provide only the best in quality and style.

Craftfully hand-crafted

A vast majority of Grenson's shoes are hand-crafted and hand-sewn to perfection by skilled and experienced craftsmen. Every pair of Grenson is made with careful regard of the English tradition. Most of their collection feature what is called "Goodyear Welting", where a strip of leather (the welt), is stitched from the inner to the upper sole. To complete the craft, the sole is stitched to the welt.

Welting is one of Grenson's specialty methods. With their superior welting method, the quality of the leather is enhanced and maintained, and your pair of shoes becomes more durable than most other shoe brands. Grenson shoes can be resolved multiple times as necessary to lengthen their lifespan. Here are some of the Grenson collection most love all over the world by people of all ages with different background, styles and tastes. Most of them are available in sizes 6 to 12, as well as in half-sizes to 11 then size 12.

The Grenson Rushden

The Rushden collection is a relatively new collection from Grenson. Its target market is the younger, the more youthful and the more contemporary customer. It is considered a rugged, contemporary workwear with chunky double leather-made soles and distinctly distressed style. The Rushden collection is marked by its smaller-than-traditional brogues and its slightly upturned area near the toe. The last, which is the wooden model from which shoes are made from, are modelled with elongated toes, contributing to its youthful appearance.

The Grenson Rose

This collection is considered to be the pinnacle in shoe making; this collection is one of the brand's highest-priced and most sought after by those who know quality at its best. It is made from the finest of calf leathers and suedes, and crafted with careful hand polishing and finishing. The Rose is true English shoe making in the real sense of the word - without any compromise.

The Grenson Feathermaster

The Feathermaster is one of Grenson's bottom line collections. The Feathermaster is characterized by a piece of leather wrapped towards the end and an apron stitched on top to keep it together, then carefully hang-stitched at the last. The Feathermaster shoes have their feet enveloped around soft kid leather for maximum comfort and superb fit.

Grenson Brogue

The classic brogue is one of Grenson's most renowned trademarks. For those who are not familiar, brogues or broguings are those decorative holes punched into shoes, usually around trimmings.
