 In 2012 Adidas have added some great new shoes to their range plus they have taken a relook at some classic shapes including the Gazelle, Stan Smith and Torsion ZX. This will be a good year for the already world famous brand. The Adidas Originals collection is the retro influenced line from the German based sportswear manufacturer that is heavily influenced by popular sub-culture and has thus allowed this line to become a fashion brand in its own right, shaking off the image as a sports good only company. Having been around since just after the Second World War, Adidas has a rich archive of trainers to draw from and every season it releases new Adidas Originals Trainers that are based on models from years gone by with a modern twist and modern manufacturing techniques. Over the years Adidas has produced some of the most iconic styles of footwear with each product almost becoming a brand name in its own right. These include Adidas Sambas originally designed for playing football but latterly becoming a classic sneaker for the football casuals to wear on the terraces, Adidas Stan Smiths, Adidas Forest Hills and Adidas Superstars all deserve honourable mentions too. In recent years they have started to re-release sneakers from their City collection in limited numbers such as Adidas Manchester, London, Stockholm and Dublin which have quickly become highly collectable and very rare due to the low production numbers. As Adidas Originals is seen as a brand in its own right, the marketing department have been given a free reign to target Stars and Events that you would not normally associate with a sports company. These include The Warehouse Project in Manchester, a nightclub that only opens for three months of the year, and tie ups with Hip Hop stars such as Run DMC, which has helped Adidas Originals achieve an effortlessly cool status amongst Britain’s youth that other brands look upon in envy.
