Fresh into Net Clothing for 2011 is the Levis Vintage Jeans collection from the world’s most famous denim company Levi Strauss and Co. The company has a rich and established history having been formed one hundred and fifty eight years ago by a German migrant who moved to the West Coast American State of California to launch a denim manufacturing business. As with many of the more established jeans brands in the market place today Levis started out making long lasting and hard wearing work wear for the USA’s growing industrial landscape as the demand was so high. Alongside the jeans that the company produced they also manufactured denim dungarees and overalls which were particularly popular with workers who were involved in the gold mining industry.

After the Second World War, American youth culture changed and Jeans slowly started to become an essential wardrobe item, although Levis still had a strong work clothing clientele, the fashion side of the business started to grow at an exponential state. The late nineteen fifties saw the launch of the ultra iconic Levis 501 Jeans model which were unique in that they shrunk to the users profile, making them the ultimate fit. From the 1990’s onwards Levis spent millions of TV advertising to combat the ever growing amount of denim brands that were launching and beginning to eat into the company’s market share and profit. Jeans and premium denim became the biggest sector within the fashion industry and Levis began to lag behind as new brands such as G Star, Nudie and True Religion began to become established in the market place.

To combat this threat the company launched the Vintage Levis Jeans collection, which has drawn on Levis rich heritage and archives to re-release classic styles of jeans. Models that have been brought back to life are Levis 501’s, and Levis 505’s,
