Adidas sponsored David Beckham is set to put his country first this summer and turn down a series of lucrative TV deals, it has been suggested.

The Daily Mail reports the LA Galaxy midfielder turned down punditry deals from the BBC, ITV, ESPN and TV stations from South America, South Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

Beckham is set to travel to South Africa as a non-playing member of Fabio Capello's World Cup squad and the 35-year-old's experience of the tournament could prove to be invaluable.

Sport fans and fashion lovers alike could be keeping a close eye on this summer's competition as the midfielder is well known for setting trends that are copied around the globe.

Men hoping to get his look could opt to pick up some of the Adidias O bY O range that he made in collaboration with designer James Bond.

It has recently been reported that Beckham will be a key figure in the campaign for England to host the 2018 World Cup.
