Barcelona star Lionel Messi put his Adidas to good use last night (April 6th) to strike four times - including a first-half hat trick - against Arsenal at the Nou Camp.

The Argentinean superstar put Arsene Wenger's men to the sword after the north London club took the lead and he has received praise from the opposition.

Arsenal player Fran Merida - formerly of the Barcelona academy - told Soccernet: "For me he is the best player ever. I didn't get to see Maradona or Pele. When Messi is at his best he is the best player in the world. He showed that."

He added that it is possible to stop him, but when he is at his optimal performance level it can prove to be a very difficult task.

Messi demonstrated is love of Adidas in last year's Champions League final against Manchester United by taking off his boot and kissing it when he scored.
