Lacoste trainers, polo shirts and tennis shorts have been cited as must-have items for fashionable males who want to emulate the current trend for sportswear-style clothing.

Shortlist has revealed its red-hot trends for spring, with the "sporting edge" one fashion that men may want to follow.

And Lacoste appears to play a central role for males who want to impress both on and off the court.

The brand's white polo shirt, white tennis shorts with navy piping and white Marcel Twist trainers are all modelled in the style section of Shortlist.

"From country-club locker rooms to Centre Court at Wimbledon, accessories take on a Bjorn Borg look for the new season," the magazine said.

One of Lacoste's most famous representatives is tennis ace Andy Roddick, who wears the brand's sports clothing when playing on the court.

His outfit of choice often consists of a Lacoste cap and white polo shirt, which he wore to participate in the Wimbledon final last year where he was beaten by Roger Federer.
