Men with a love of quality clothing made in an ethical way may be pleased to hear that Nike and Adidas have scored highly in a recent report.

According to the Organic Cotton Market Report 2009 by the non-profit organisation Organic Exchange (OE) both brands are among the top twelve to make use of organic cotton.

LaRhea Pepper, OE senior director and co-author of the report, suggested some people believed the recession would cause an end to all things organic, but in reality quite the opposite happened.

She said: "Consumers dug in their heels and continued to support the use of organic cotton and other sustainable fibres, while brands and retailer maintained or even expanded their commitments to making their product lines more sustainable."

This was achieved through safer manufacturing methods and increased usage of organic fibres, she added.

All this could be the perfect reason to invest in a few new items from the brands ahead of the summer season.

The Nike Red Grand Slam England Polo T-shirt complete with lion badge and number ten detailing could be perfect for this summer's World Cup.
