Nike-sponsored Wayne Rooney has been named the PFA Player of the Year award.

The Manchester United and England star picked up the gong last night (April 25th) following a season in which he has scored 34 goals for his club.

Rooney suggested it was "a great feeling" to win the award because it is voted for by the players.

He said: "I remember coming here in 2005 and 2006 to win the young player of the year. I saw the players winning the main one and it's something I've aimed for since."

Football fans may be hoping that Rooney recovers from his recent injury problems in time to fire England to success with his Nike footwear at this summer's World Cup in South Africa.

Men might find that a range of Nike clothing, including track tops and footwear, could help them emulate the look of the star.
