When Wayne Rooney takes off his Nike trainers for a rest he cannot get to sleep without listening to the sound of a buzz, he has revealed.

It is already widely known the Manchester United striker needs to hear the 'soothing' sounds of a hairdryer or vacuum cleaner to get to sleep.

But speaking to the Sun, he has revealed he also needs to hear a buzz when sleeping on an aeroplane.

"If we're on long-haul flights I've been known to sleep on the floor so I hear the engine and on occasions when the manager has walked past he's asked, 'What are you doing?'", the footballer admitted.

But his boss will probably not mind his unusual sleeping habits because of his talent with his Nike boots.

He also commented on the three-minute, multi-million pound Nike Write the Future advert of which he is the star.

Rooney might have recently curled up on the floor of the plane that took him, wife Coleen and son Kai to Majorca, where he was spotted enjoying a family break.
