Tennis ace Andy Roddick, who is sponsored by Lacoste, spent two hours facing opponent Croatian Ivan Ljubicic, who was crowned 2010 title holder at the BNP Paribas Open.

Lacoste-wearing Roddick fought for every point during a sunny afternoon where his Lacoste cap could have served him well by blocking the rays from his view.

Although he lost out to the Croat, stylish Roddick picked himself up and prepared to land in Miami for the Sony Ericsson Open.

He thanked his fans - over 34,000 flocked to the event - his opponent and the tournament's sponsor.

During the second set the Texan stepped up his performance and he held to 6-5, but Ljubicic launched a wide ball which hit the tape, then the rim of Roddick's racket, before soaring into the audience, taking the match into a tie-break.

But the Croat overcame Roddick in the tie-break, securing his win.

In the BNP semi-finals Roddick defeated Robin Soderling 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in a match his official website described as "nothing short of the calibre of tennis expected from two top ten players".
