Nike-footwear wearing striker Wayne Rooney could be a key component of tonight's (March 30th) Champions League quarter final between Manchester United and Bayern Munich, if suggestions are anything to go by.

The England and Red Devils forward has been in fine form this season and is widely said to have proved himself to be among the best players in the world this season.

Despite the threat, Bayern manager Louis Van Gaal said: "He is hard to mark out of the game. We can manage as we also have quality. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson and his players should be scared of that."

As well as United versus Bayern, tonight's game is also a battle between the sportwear giants Nike and Adidas as both brands may well be keen for the team wearing their shirt - United wear Nike and Bayern wear Adidas - to progress.

Nike and Adidas fans could emulate the sporty look of the players this summer by teaming a tracktop from their favoured brand with a pair of shorts.
