The impact that Adidas-sponsored David Beckham has on the football world has been highlighted by a recent interview.

Major League Soccer (MLS) commissioner Don Garber has presided over the league for 12 years and suggested to Sports Illustrated that Beckham is playing a key role in promoting the league across the country and around the world.

Recent reports have suggested that without Beckham, MLS club LA Galaxy is expected to fail to make a profit this year.

"David's presence on the field affects all aspects of the Galaxy's business and the league's business. It's all fairly obvious, from ticket sales to sponsorship to merchandise," he said.

He added it is "heartbreaking" that an injury will prevent the former Manchester United midfielder from achieving his dreams at the World Cup and he hopes he recovers soon because he is a major part of the league.

Men may wish to emulate Beckham's style and could do so with his selection of Adidas clothing by designer James Bond.
